About Edina

Edina is located in Hennepin County just south of the Twin Cities metro area. Originally, it was part of Richfield Township. Over time, more and more immigrants settled in the area. As the population grew, they gathered together to discuss separating from Richfield Township and forming a new village. The resolution was approved and they set to work the transition to a new village. One thing to note that is interesting is that there was a great deal of heated debate over what to call the new village. Proposed ideas Edina, Hennepin Park, or Westfield. Obviously Edina was their final choice.

Today, Edina is a modern and growing community with easy access to the Twin Cities via major highways. It boasts more than 1500 acres of recreational land used for parks, basketball, softball diamonds, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. Edina also features 10 arts, community, and recreation facilities.
